21 Attorneys Selected by Peers for Inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2016

PORTLAND, ME — Preti Flaherty announced today that twenty-one Preti Flaherty attorneys from its offices in Portland and Augusta, Maine, and Concord, New Hampshire, have been selected by their peers for inclusion in the soon-to-be-released 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, a highly regarded directory of attorneys and law firms in the United States.

Inclusion in the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® is considered a top honor as less than three percent of the nation’s lawyers are listed in the guide, which are chosen by their peers and organized by practice area.

The 21 selected attorneys include:

From the Augusta, Maine office:

  • Severin M. Beliveau–Administrative/Regulatory Law and Government Relations Practice
  • Anthony W. Buxton–Energy Law
  • Joseph G. Donahue–Administrative/Regulatory Law, Communications Law, and Energy Law
  • Bruce C. Gerrity–Administrative/Regulatory Law and Franchise Law
  • James C. Pitney, Jr. –Public Finance Law

From the Concord, New Hampshire office:

  • John M. Sullivan–Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Corporate Law
  • Peter G. Callaghan–Commercial Litigation
  • Daniel P. Luker–Commercial Litigation and Corporate Law
  • Mark H. Puffer–Municipal Law
  • Kenneth E. Rubinstein–Construction Law
  • William C. Saturley–Legal Malpractice Law (Defendants)

From the Portland, Maine office:

  • Timothy J. Bryant–Commercial Litigation and Franchise Law
  • Geoffrey K. Cummings–Employment Law (Individuals)
  • John P. Doyle, Jr.–Health Care Law
  • Gregory P. Hansel–Commercial Litigation, Litigation (Securities), Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions (Plaintiffs) and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions (Defendants)
  • Nelson J. Larkins–Workers’ Compensation Law (Employers)
  • Harold C. Pachios–Corporate Law
  • Jonathan S. Piper–Commercial Litigation and Litigation (First Amendment)
  • Sigmund D. Schutz–Litigation (Environmental), Litigation (First Amendment), Litigation (Securities)
  • Eric P. Stauffer–Corporate Law and Mortgage Banking Foreclosure Law
  • David B. Van Slyke–Environmental Law and Litigation (Environmental)

In addition to the practice area listing, three Preti attorneys have been named Lawyers of the Year for 2016 by Best Lawyers. Severin M. Beliveau was named for his work in Government Relations Practice; Kenneth E. Rubinstein was named for his work in Construction Law; and Randall B. Weill was named for his work in Litigation (Antitrust).

Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 25,000 leading attorneys cast almost two million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
