Attorney Michael Smith Joins Preti Flaherty

Today Preti Flaherty announced that Michael S. Smith has joined the firm.

Michael S. Smith practices as an Associate with Preti Flaherty's Litigation Group in the Portland, Maine office. His practice focuses on commercial and securities litigation, white collar defense, and antitrust and competition law.  

Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Michael was an associate in the New York and Boston offices of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.  While at WilmerHale, he represented institutional clients in connection with securities class actions and criminal and regulatory investigations.  He also routinely advised companies with respect to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and related foreign laws.  In 2010, Michael served for six months as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney's Office in Massachusetts, where he tried a variety of criminal cases to judges and juries.

Michael earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Boston College, and he is admitted to practice in Maine, Massachusetts, and New York.
