Preti Flaherty Attorney Sigmund D. Schutz Admitted to The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation

The American Bar Foundation Board of Directors inducted Preti Flaherty attorney Sigmund D. Schutz as a Fellow of the Foundation.

Founded in 1952, the Foundation is among the world’s leading research institutes for the interdisciplinary and empirical study of law.  The Fellows comprise a global honorary society of lawyers, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. 

Membership in the Fellows is limited to one percent of the bar membership admitted to practice in the United States and its territories, and to a limited number of lawyers in international jurisdictions. With his induction, Sig joins this select group of legal professionals across the United States and beyond in supporting the research of the Foundation.  The institute works to advance the understanding and improvement of law through research projects of unmatched scale and quality on the most pressing issues facing the legal system in the United States and the world.

Sig is a Partner in Preti Flaherty's Portland, Maine office where he focuses his practice on appellate, commercial, environmental and professional litigation, freedom of information and media law, among other matters. Sig is recognized by Benchmark Litigation; Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; The Best Lawyers in America; and New England Super Lawyers. He is also a Maine Bar Foundation Fellow and Litigation Counsel of America Fellow.
