Schutz Selected by MLRC as a Co-author of Maine Privacy Law

Portland, Maine (May 4, 2012) – Attorney Sigmund D. Schutz have been selected by the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC) as a co-author of the forthcoming Maine Chapter of the 2012-2013 edition of the MLRC 50-State Survey: Media Privacy & Related Law.

According to the MLRC, the 50-State Surveys are published annually by MLRC and Oxford University Press, are 1000+ page reference texts that provide comprehensive coverage of media libel, media privacy, and employment libel and privacy law in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. territories, the U.S. Federal Courts, Canada (media libel and privacy volumes) and England (media libel). The Surveys are prepared annually by practicing attorneys, experts in the law of their particular jurisdiction.

Sigmund Schutz is a Partner with Preti Flaherty and practices with the firm's Litigation and Media Law Practice Groups.  He represents the Maine Press Association and the press on First Amendment matters, libel and privacy law, state and federal sunshine laws, newsgathering, advertising and related matters. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America in First Amendment Law and as a "Rising Star" in Super Lawyers New England. He is admitted to practice in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, United States District Court for the Districts of Maine and New Hampshire, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
